I've just purchased a laptop with Vista and an A320, and while trying to install a320-1.03TD-3 on my Dingoo, I've only run into issues. I haven't been able to set up the firmware, and I nearly bricked the Dingoo in my attempts to fix the problem. As far as I can tell, the main issue has to do with my computer's refusal to accept Jz4740_usb.inf as something it can install.

Here is my situation trying to follow the setup instructions inclued with the firmware:

INSTALLING THE USB DRIVER IN WINDOWS VISTA:
1. Put the Dingoo a-320 is USB mode by pressing and holding the B button while inserting a pin or similar into the reset hole
2. Conect the USB cable between your computer and Dingoo
3. Now you need to install the windows USB driver for JZ4740 USB Boot device. Click "Locate and install driver software"

Worked fine, no issues. "Found New Hardware" window pops up immediately. Clicked "Locate and install driver software." A window pops up with a bar moving before it says "waiting for user input..."

4. Click on "I don't have the disc. Show me other options"
5. Click on "Browse my computer for driver software".
6. Browse to where you extracted the files and choose "Next".

When I get to the browser window, I select the "a320-1.03TD-3" folder that was created when I unzipped the file with the firmware, with the "include subfolders" box checked. I do not get a security warning. A window pops up saying "Windows was unable to install your JZ4740 USB Boot Device. Windows could not find driver software for the device."

Right clicking on Jz4740_usb.inf and selecting "install" brings up an error message saying "The INF file you selected does not support this method of installation."

Trying to manually install the driver with the run menu gave me another error message saying it could not be installed in this fashion.

I'm now at a loss. I can't seem to get the driver working on my computer, and I can't seem to find any other way around getting the firmware on my computer. Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong? I'm baffled.

Can I get a solution that doesn't necessitate the installation of an entirely different OS?

I haven't done it myslef, but running a linux live cd is not installing a new os. Think of it as more like running another program -- you're not making a permanent change to your system. You just boot from the cd into linux so that you can use it for this purpose. It doesn't install to your PC. When you're done, reboot and linux goes away.

Don't bother with flashutil program... Rename file 'a320-1.03TD-3.hxf' to 'a320.hxf' then put that file on the root of the internal memory plus the extra root files.

Unplug and turn off, hold down the down arrow and turn on. System will flash itself. File 'a320.hxf' can then be deleted as it is no loner needed.

BTW, backup files on dingoo first, just in case.

I just tried that (moved the new firmware into the root directory with the root files,) and now the Dingoo is stuck on the firmware's flash screen and won't do anything. What'd I do wrong?

when you downloaded the custom firmware there was another file in the folder besides the .hxf called root files. you need to add the two files in rootfiles (game and system) to the root of the dingoo. and that will solve the problem. its in the instructions but alot of people miss that step.
