thinkgeek
I've been considering buying a white dingoo since my black one is so "smudge prone", and I heard that if you buy a dingoo from thinkgeek.com, it comes pre-translated and has a better shipping time, does anyone who bought a dingoo from this site think it's worth the extra 20 bucks?
My first one from ThinkGeek came with firmware v1.1; third party games and Jungletac GBA roms played great, but the shoulder buttons broke after 15 mnutes of play, and the LCD screen was screwed up from internal component pressure.
My second one from ThinkGeek came with firmware v1.2; none of the third-party emulators or apps will work on it, includng the Jungletac GBA roms. I haven't tried flashng the 1.2 POF firmware, though -- but I don't expect that that would fix anything, as the compatibility problems come from hardware issues, not firmware issues.
My girlfriend just bought a dingoo from thinkgeek and it should be here on 2/24 so I'll come back and let you know what we got.
I bought 3 Dingoos for my sons for Christmas. I flashed all three with 1.2 POF as soon as I got them and loaded them up with about 4 gigs of games before we wrapped them up. They all came from Thinkgeek and arrived quickly and in great condition. The first week of February my oldest son's bricked up hardcore playing a CPS2 game. I could not get it to unbrick at all. Tried every remedy from every website I could find. My wife called Thinkgeek and they replaced it for free. It took about a week to get the new one back from them. I would definitely buy from thinkgeek again.
OH.. I forgot to mention.. If you DO buy a dingoo from thinkgeek, here is a promo code for $10.00 off (works on any order over $40) --- GEEKPUZZLER
I bought mine from think geek never have had a problem. Think geek may be a little more money but its there fast and with no hangups
It sound like that shoulder button issue was just unlucky, and do you think that if I install some unbricker software early on do you think it would be safe to buy it from there? The reason I'm not buying it from the dingoo digital USA is... nothing personal, but I don't trust smaller sites
In many cases I'd agree with you on that but in the case of the Dingoo I'd say you're making a mistake not trusting dingoo-digital-usa

They are (from what I've seen) possible your best option for getting a good quality model and for on going customer support.

I've bought two dingoos from Thinkgeek. They were both english and no problems. I got 2 day shipping on one and regular ground on the other; they both came reasonably fast. The latest one had 1.2 firmware on it, the first one had 1.1x.. I flashed them both to the POF 1.2 and installed all the latest 3rd party emulators with no issues. If I need to buy another dingoo, I'll probably buy it from dingoo-digital-usa , but if I needed to get it from TG then I would for sure.
