Some Firmware Questions
I am thinking of upgrading my dingoo to the 1.20 POF firmware but I have a few questions.
1. When it says copy all contents into udisk root does it mean
a) The .zip file
b)The single extracted folder
or c) the two folders inside the extracted folder and the .hxf file?
2. Do the new dingoos come with 1.20 firmware and does that firmware fix the snes, genesis, or Y/B bugs?
3. What are the chances that i will brick my dingoo? Are the chances worth the rewards?
4. What is the default mHz of the dingoo CPU? (I think 400?)
Thank you all for your time.
Yes, that is the custom firmware; this firmware has a gameboy colour emulator, a fixed megadrive emulator, and a neogeo pocket emulator.
As with the theme stuff I don't really care, all I want is to play the original pokemon on the gbc, sonic, and other sega games
Thank you for the overclocking info as well
The firmware has nothing to do with the emulators. You can download those emulator .sims and put them on the Dingoo to use with the offical firmware.
And that sega emulator is pretty awful. If you want decent megadrive/genesis emulation you need to install Dingux and use Picodrive.
1. It's the extracted files. The GAME folder will have the new emulator. Don't overwrite your old GAME folder just copy and paste the emulator over. Since this is a custom firmware you will need the SYSTEM folder for sure. Without it the a320 wont start. The .hxf file is what updates the firmware. It tells the a320 or flasher what to do. Just copy it into your root directory and delete it when your done upgrading.
2. Mine --a week old-- came with 1.20 and it basically only fixes the Y and B button issue. This custom version will allow you to customize the themes and will fix some of the translation errors the official version has.
3. If you upgrade the firmware with the Dingoo's built in flash utility I'd say the chances of bricking are rare. Once you have all the files in the root folder turn the unit off and hold down the "down" key on the D-pad and turn it back on. You'll see the Firmare upgrade screen and can release the buttons. It will aproximately take 2 minutes to complete. If you do mange to brick your dingoo use this unbricker. It works no matter what version a320 you have and is very easy to follow as its all in English compared to the other unbrickers. dl.openhandhelds.org/cgi-bin/dingoo.cgi
4. The default clock speed is 336 mHz but the chip is designed fo 400 mHz. As with all small electronics it is underclocked to prolong battery life and help with heat in small confined spaces. I modded mine and use the overclocker app quite frequently. If you open her up you'll notice the battery is taped right to the board and is in direct contact with the CPU. The batter basically heats up the CPU. I pulled the battery off cleaned up the tape and put the battery back in its position. Put some double stick tape on the side facing the back and semi put it back together with out snaping it shut. Flip it over so it falls on the back then open it back up and make sure its secure to the back. This makes it easier to place the battery as anywhere else you wont be able shut it.

But why do you want to? What's wrong with the official 1.2?
The only difference is that a few words are changed in the menu, and you are able to edit the theme, right? Whoopty doo. But I guess themes are important for some people.
