Release source code of emulators

So we can upgrade them make them better. Since we dont have the source we cant improve them.

I mean the built in ones.

Thanks!

utf-8

I want to read books on my mother tounge. I want mp3 tags display correctly. I want see cyrillic names in file browser. I want to UTF-8 support. Is it possible?

Dingoo's users are lives all over the world! And, I think - utf-8 was good thing for no-Chinese or no-English users.

Юникод в массы!

Two Player

I registered an account here just to say this: I would buy a second Dingoo if it was possible to link them together and play two players.  Thanks!

how 2?

how do u install 1.22 now that i DL it? sorry just got my dingoo

Time for new custom firmware

http://dl.openhandhelds.org/cgi-bin/dingoo.cgi?0,0,0,0,42,265

Here you can download new oficial release of the firmware. Version 1.22.

New versions of emulators

For example: GBA emulator has a few bugs with saving. Ingame saving doesn't work (or doesn't work properly in some games). Emulator saving has some bugs in some games. For example in Final Fantasy 6, if you use emulator saving, all dialog boxes and combat ifo boxes disapear, so only way is to use ingame saving, but it has the problem the saveslots sometimes disapear (I don't know why and where, because the files for the saves are staying in the folder with the game).

Key Lock

I think it would be great to have an option to lock keys in audio player, because if I'm listening mp3s and I have Dingoo in pocket, I cannot avoid accidentaly pushing buttons. So some key un/locking combination (like start+select+L+R, for example) could be useful.

Sorry

Sorry :), I found the inbuilt keylock feature. It is on the on/off switch:).

Improving the movie player so

Improving the movie player so that it doesn't freeze when playing larger avi's.

That and better codec support i'd guess, for example ipdownloader retrieves in an mp4 format that the dingoo doesn't recognise.

I agree with the earlier poster, do we need new apps or simply get the ones it has working as smoothly as possible.

Anyway props to you chaps for working away on the little dingoo.

A couple of things

1. I can see the over clocking would be a plus but some people dont really want it over clocked. So making it an over clocked default would be a bad idea. An option to choose what speed would be better like the custom firmware.

2. Im not sure if this is already implamented but please let me know. Custom themes. Everyone is different and like their system to be like their personality so ability to customize your own themes or allow to upload custimized ones would be great. Again if this is new to the Ver 1.1 please let me know.

3. Ipod movie codec. Screw apple for their unique codec but lets face it its a huge format that is used widely and I have all my Office Season on that format. Again not sure how hard it would be to do it.

"Needs IPOD Codec then its a perfect 10"

 !!Come on Dingoo team!!

A few suggestions

1) The Y button thing is a pretty big one for a lot of people, if at all possible fixing this should be looked into
2) More movie codecs (if possible). I have a lot of mkv's I'd love to be able to play.
3) Subtitle support in movies
4) id3 tag support (album art as well)
5) Renaming & rearranging categories so they aren't chinglish
6) Easier access to mini-sd

Default overclocked FW would

Default overclocked FW would be nice for me, cuz if you try to overclock it using the TV out thing the unit freezes...

I would also love the ability to use animations as background for the main menu, .GIF doesn't have a good resolution, so I think a series of .JPGs showed in sequence would be perfect.

My Dingoo also seems to reject every .MP4 video file that I try to play with it, although they say in the official site and even on the user manual that it IS compatible with this format... Maybe fixing this bug is possible.
It would be nice if the dingoo could play other types of video, such as .MKV, too.

Other than that, please fix that damn MP3 player bug, it's really annoying...

Fix the mp3 playback bug that

Fix the mp3 playback bug that occurs when listening with earphones. I heard it doesn't cut the first second if you listen to the songs through the speakers. Could be a simple but a useful bug fix? I have no faith in the official Dingoo engineers...

Is it possible for you to add

Is it possible for you to add a configuration file to the E-book reader? Because the settings will lost when you restart the Dingoo or is it that my player having a problem?

Add a Midi support.

Browser (File Manager) lack of several functions such as:
- Cut (able to cut any files or folder and paste it to any directory).
- Create/Delete Folder.
- Rename (able to rename any files/folders including its extensions).
- File/Folder lock (useful but not necessary).

There's more, should I post it?

unicode txt reader, FF movie/mp3 player, radio channels naming

1. Adding Unicode support for txt fles in Dingoo's internal ebook reader will be great because that way I will be able to read book in Cyrillic and other languages. Now I use this one which is very good but still will be better to have it in the default one.
2. I think the fast forward in the movie player should be done with L and R buttons that way: pressing a shoulder button once moves the video 1sec forward/backward. Holding a key+shoulder button: 5sec FastForward etc. And if it is possible to have a quick popup menu for choosing the time where the video will start from. The same is for the mp3 player.
3. It will be cool to name the radio stations so one can easily switch to his favorite one without remembering the exact frequency.
For the emulators: they are good right now even on ver.1.0 - I think providing the .SIM files of these apps separately from the firmware on a different download page which will be updated separately from the firmware will be a good idea.

Sorry if I make suggestions that can be solved easily without firmware update - I am still getting used with my Dingoo.

These are all good

These are all good suggestions. Everyone noted. Will see what can be done with the ebook reader. The key configurations in the movie player can possibly be tweaked a little. Tnankyou for your feedback.

Two biggest FW issues

There are two significant FW issues that should take priority.

The first is inability to press X and Y at the same time.  This is incredibly annoying, and should be easy to fix.

The second is the device's tendancy to throttle its clock speed when running on batteries (explained in more detail here).  This should be firmware-fixable, but may be more difficult than the first issue.

Once those issues are fixed, anything else is gravy.

Here, we're talking about

Here, we're talking about minor FW modifications, this is, put more codecs, change some config.
But B+Y issue are into low level FW system, so this must be fixed by Dingoo :(

 Isn't there already a custom

Isn't there already a custom release with BBE? Maybe you could just use their code.

Overclock

I think the automatic overclock in the next firmware is a bad idea, it shouldn't be forced.  If someone wanted their system overclocked they can just use the app.

overclock

Since the apps do not work properly for everyone maybe you could make a firmware with default overclock and one without. I personally would like mine clocked at 430mhz by default. Even better would be a setting in the firmware itself that could adjust overclocking...if that is possible. BBE is less impressive than I thought it would be, but there isn't any reason not to include it.

overclock yes

I agree default 430mhz all the way. Someone also posted there could be two versions available for download - 1 with default overclock, one without. Sounds good

The BBE feature is a sound

The BBE feature is a sound codec originating from the Gemei firmware and is compatible for the dingoo. The team dingoo firmware supports user customizable themes unlike the other firmware, but I will include this codec if you - the users want to have it in teamdingoo CFW.

That would be great! To be

That would be great! To be honest, I think that you should try and focus on getting all the emulators running at the speed and/or working. The CPS1/2 emulators don't work, (I think), and this should be the main priority. There is not much point adding new stuff, if the stuff already there doesn't work. Just as an idea, what about a custom fireware installer? That you can automatically choose to install the firmware, and also let the user choose if they want to install the Overclocking application or not. To me, that would see more professional.

Just my two cents worth.

The only thing left to do, is be wired!

CPS1/2 work, and work great...!!!

Hi Wiredbomb0 I just wanted to confirm that cps1/2 emulation works perfectly well with most games, I just wished the genesis and super nintendo ran that well.
For me the top priorities for a firmware upgrade would be:

The B+Y fix
support for other tts engines other than english and chinese and of course unicode support.

I guess that a Raine-like emulator (taito old coin-ops) is out of the question... maybe the scene will eventually come up with something. I'd love to play Rastan Saga in my Dingoo!!!!.
Thanks to Dingoo-Digital for being so supportive of the community and taking the time to hear what the users have to say about their fine product.
Matt.

Oh really? That's great! The thing is, I can't tell cause I didn't have a chance to test out every emulator. but, yeah, I've heard the B+Y button problem is really bad, so that would be great if that was fixed.

Having the media player read

Having the media player read ID3 tags and the like would be nice
